Volunteers will feel welcomed! Fundamed/Volunteers Brazil is a non-profit foundation founded in 1997. In Brazil, there are staggering levels of poverty, in which poor life conditions cause constant suffering and humiliation. The scarcity of food, clothing, hospitals and medical professionals willing to volunteer is what makes FUNDAMED/Volunteers Brazil essential so that these local people receive some dignity and hope. FUNDAMED/Volunteers Brazil relies basically on donation, volunteer work and agreements with government and private agencies to survive and to guarantee that its services reach as many people as possible. Work Description: This project is designed for dental students or dentists to provide clinical assistance to the local community, with direct supervision by a dentist. Volunteers will help in providing cleanings and restoration work, as well as providing tooth care information. Accomodation/Food: Food and accomodation will be provided by Fundamed. Volunteers will stay in a local lodging and will include a maid, cook and support personnel. All 3 meals included (plus snacks). Any personal preference will be discussed prior to arrival. Language Requirements: Portuguese is spoken in Brazil. Most Brazilians will understand Spanish. However there will be a translator all the time with the volunteers. Bringing a dictionary will always help. Brazilians are known for easy manners and welcoming approach. Arrival/Transport Info: Volunteers will arrive at the Fortaleza International Airport and there will be transportation from the airport to the site location.
